SF State Scholars Program in Developmental Psychology (combined BA/MA degree)

Are you majoring in Psychology?

Would you like to work on an MA in Developmental Psychology while completing BA requirements?

Students majoring in Psychology may apply to the SF State Scholars Program, a blended BA/MA Degree program, which allows academically excellent undergraduate students to complete a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology within a one to two semester reduced timeline.

There are many advantages to this program. First, you don't need to take the GRE. Second, you won't need to pay $55 to apply to the program. Third, you can complete one year of your graduate degree at the fee rate for undergraduate students.

Note, if your ultimate goal is to be a practicing clinical psychologist with a Marriage and Family Therapy license, this is probably not the program for you.

The priority deadline to receive applications is the same date that aligns with other MA applications (usually February 1) although applications are considered as they are received.

To apply, the following materials must be emailed to Dr. Paik at jaepaik@sfsu.edu

1.) CV/resume

2.) SF State Scholars application form (available at http://grad.sfsu.edu/content/scholars-4-1-program). Please email a copy of this form to Dr. Paik at jaepaik@sfsu.edu.

3.) Statement of Purpose (2,000 - 4,000 words, refer to Psychology coursework you've taken and which faculty in the Psychology department that you would like to work with)

4.) Two letters of recommendation from professors that can write about your performance in their class. These should be emailed directly to jaepaik@sfsu.edu and to your department's faculty advisor (a list of faculty advisors identified by Department follows)

If you have questions about the program, you can reach out to the Psychology department's graduate services coordinator Megan Kwong <mwkwong@sfsu.edu>
