Betsy Bayha

Betsy Bayha is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in History.  She began her career as a reporter at public radio station KQED-FM in San Francisco and expanded her focus to produce a number of documentaries for PBS and Lucasfilm, including her own independently produced documentary short about world-renown "outsider" artist, Judith Scott.

Betsy has also worked in online higher education for the Apollo Education Group and the UCSF School of Medicine.  For the past 18 months, Betsy has pursued a new path, working as a career transition coach and delivering a workshop on mindset and positive psychology for job search.  Her interest in the I/O psychology is driven by a desire to expand her knowledge about how psychology can be applied in the workplace to help employees achieve greater health and happiness on the job.

Second Year Internship: Zymergen

Reese Haydon

Reese graduated from BYU's Marriott School of Business in 2015 with a BS in Management Information Systems. At BYU, Reese worked as a teaching assistant for the business school's management communication course over the 2012-2015 academic years, and completed a grant-funded undergraduate research project focused on humility as a mitigator to intergroup conflict. Currently, Reese works in Cisco HR’s Leadership and Team Intelligence organization. In this role, he manages the design and delivery of Cisco's global leadership and executive coaching programs, and supports his team’s executive assessment and development projects. At SFSU, Reese belongs to Dr. Diana Sanchez’s Workplace Technology Research Lab. His primary research interest includes examining how technology can disrupt and accelerate first-time team leadership and team dynamics. As an advocate of human rights and equality, Reese is passionate about women in STEM and LGBTQ+ rights and representation. In his free time, Reese enjoys critiquing Pinot Noir, eating dessert, and traveling with friends.

Tony Kim

Tony (Kwang Hyun) Kim graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with his B.A. in Economics in 2017. Although initially focused on attaining a management consulting job after graduation, he pivoted when he learned about I-O Psychology from his Human Resources professor, Dr. Cristina Banks. After graduation, he worked under Dr. Banks as a research analyst at the Interdisciplinary Center for Healthy Workplaces where he was involved in various projects mainly focused on developing healthier workplaces and improving employee well-being. Currently, his research interests include employee well-being, burnout, workforce technology, and job performance. On his free time Tony enjoys exploring restaurants with friends, creating pottery (ceramics), and cooking!

Second Year Internship: Interdisciplinary Center for Healthy Workplaces

Vivian Li

Vivian earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego in 2015. Her interest in I/O Psychology sparked at Dr. Aubyn Stahmer's Interact Lab, where she conducted research on the fidelity of implementation of Pivotal Response Training (PRT) in community settings and measured the effectiveness of training and procedures. She furthered her research interests while working with Dr. Jessica Suhrheinrich, examining the feasability and acceptability of a leadership intervention for mid-level leaders in special education. Vivian is very thankful to everyone at the Interact Lab for their support and encouragement. 

Moving forward, Vivian's interests lie in creating effective cross cultural teams in multinational organizations, employee motivation/engagement, organizational development, and change management. While not at school, Vivian likes to eat too many tacos, practice ashtanga yoga, and stare at cloud formations.

Second Year Internship: Autodesk

Aline Mello

Aline earned her B.S in Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. She started working as an HR professional during her undergraduate studies and shortly discovered her passion. Throughout her career, she held positions as C&B Coordinator, HR Supervisor, and HR Manager at companies as of Johnson Controls Inc. and Tecsis. In 2018, she graduated from her MBA in Strategic and Economic Management of HR from Getúlio Vargas Foundation ranked top from her class. Her thesis discussed the importance of personal development to achieve high-performance results and the contribution of HR in the process. A Brazilian citizen, driven by a higher believe that anyone can make a difference with the right guidance, Aline chose to continue her education at SFSU as a masters student of I/0 Psychology. Aline enjoys traveling, meditating, reading and engaging in good conversations. Also, like any good Brazilian, she loves eating feijoada! 

Second Year Internship: Thumbtack

Derek Moskowitz

Derek graduated from UCLA in 2018 with a B.A. in Psychology. While initially pursuing clinical psychology, he realized his academic interests were more in line with applied social psychology after working as a research assistant in a social psychology lab that examined the effects of prejudices and stigmas on one's productivity. These topics soon led him to the world of I/O psychology! Additionally, Derek's experiences with a Michael Scott-like boss at an HR internship confirmed his desire to work on applying an understanding of human cognition, emotion, and behavior to the workplace in ways that improve both employee mental health and employee productivity concurrently. During his free time at UCLA, Derek primarily played on the school's quidditch team. But now this retired athlete spends his time listening to music (Radiohead, David Bowie, and St. Vincent are the favorites), walking around and exploring the architecture & food of as many SF neighborhoods as possible, and aimlessly scrolling through reddit for unfathomable lengths of time.

Sanyukta Singh

Sanyukta graduated from Amity University in India with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. After a year of working as a sales executive at a corporate training firm, she earned a MBA with a specialization in Human Resource Management. She then joined a non-profit HR consultancy firm where she worked on recruitment projects for causes that she is passionate about, such as, education, women empowerment and health & sanitation. She has also consulted on large public sector projects across India where she developed a keen interest in I/O psychology. During the program at SFSU she wishes to deepen her knowledge about topics such as employee selection, motivation and leadership training. In her free time she enjoys practicing yoga and running - her last marathon was at 15,000 feet! She has recently moved to the Bay Area and is excited to explore all that California has to offer!

Second Year Internship: San Francisco Public Utilities Commission

Jennifer Stewart

Jennifer Stewart graduated from UC Davis in 2011 with a B.A. in International Relations, B.A. in German, and a Minor in Native American Studies.  She has worked in a variety of industries including small business, public, and corporate banking. Over the last six years she has elected to work on teams which focus on developing and refining programs to protect and support vulnerable populations.  Her belief in the value of equality, accountability, and engagement encouraged her lead the young professional resource group with her last employer and ultimately to pursue her Master’s in I/O Psychology at SFSU.  She looks forward to researching how organizations can cultivate and manage positive corporate culture while also maintaining employee work/life balance and efficiency. Jennifer is a Bay Area native who loves to take any opportunity to travel for an adventure either near or far and enjoys spending time with her family in Germany. 

Second Year Internship: Dolby Laboratories

Sony Wang

Sony received his B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from UC Irvine. ZOT ZOT! During his undergraduate career, he served as President of VSA (Vietnamese Student Association) which propelled his interests in organizational psychology. Towards the end of his undergraduate career, Sony worked in human resources as an HR Coordinator for a small financial services company in addition to being an Organizational Development Intern for the County of Orange. 

After pursuing a career in student affairs, Sony transitioned to a Training Specialist role for Birchstreet Systems. There, he got to travel extensively throughout North America and work closely with operations teams across major hotel chains which included Marriott, Hilton, Omni, and Fairmont Hotels. Before being accepted into SFSU’s I/O Psychology program, Sony was part of the team at UVSA SoCal (Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California) and served as their Staff Development Coordinator. Sony still serves UVSA today as part of the Board of Directors, providing oversight and guidance to the organization as well as the numerous college chapters that it oversees. In his free time, Sony likes to watch indie films, discover new craft beers, and read Haruki Murakami novels.

Lafayette Waters

Lafayette Waters graduated from McKendree University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Management. During his undergraduate years, he served as a liaison for campus organizations through the Residence Hall Association, and he contributed to the track and field team's 2017 championship season. Lafayette also presented research at McKendree's Academic Excellence Day Celebration, where he explored the relationship between dispositional attitudes and perceived campus culture. His interest in I/O developed after he spent a summer working at a fast food restaurant that had difficulty retaining employees. While studying at SFSU, Lafayette hopes to learn more about  gamification, employee selection, and leadership development. He currently works as a graduate teaching assistant and participates as a research assistant in Dr. Sanchez's Workplace Technology Lab. On his spare time, Lafayette enjoys getting lost in the city, listening to live music, and playing recreational sports.

Kevin Wu

Kevin graduated from UC San Diego with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry. As an undergrad, he conducted research under Dr. Elizabeth Twamley in the VA San Diego Healthcare system where he examined predictors of length of unemployment in Veterans with TBI. Additionally, Kevin worked as the HR technology intern for StepStone Group LLC and talent management intern for Pharmacyclics. Through these summer internships, he gained exposure to HR functions and the corporate world. At SFSU, Kevin hopes to explore areas such as personality, leadership, and work-life balance. In his free time, Kevin enjoys working out, exploring the city, and listening to and producing music.

Second Year Internship: Andreessen Horowitz

Mandy Yu

Mandy Yu graduated from the University of California, Riverside in 2017 with her B.A. in Psychology. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a research assistant in the Health Psychology Lab where she assisted with research that studied the interaction between community gardening and its role in improving human health. Her interest in I/O psychology began after working at several part time jobs during her undergrad. Having experienced both enjoyable and unpleasant work environments, it motivated her to pursue a career in this field. Her research interests include work place motivation and employee well being. In her free time, Mandy likes to work out, eat good food ( super counterproductive), and travel.
