Data Science Certificate for Psychology Majors

The interdisciplinary subject of Data Science (DS) has emerged as one of the fastestgrowing fields of our times. One of the most impactful applications of Data Science has been in the field of Psychology. 

The Psychology department offers a Certificate in Data Science for Psychology Majors. Obtaining this certificate will allow undergraduate students to showcase their data science skills to future employers.

To obtain this certificate, students are required to complete the following classes:

PSY 490 Introduction to Data Science for Psychology  PSY 371  3
CSC 101 Introduction to Computing  None 3

Total Units: 18

Course equivalents for PSY 171 and PSY 200 completed at other colleges can be applied toward this certificate. The remaining courses listed above must have been completed at SFSU. CSC 101 is required for the certificate but does not count toward the 41 units required for the Psychology major.  

Certificate Processing

Once you have completed the required courses, to receive your certificate, the following needs to happen: 

Graduate Studies will process the form once it’s fully signed. Afterwards, the certificate will appear on your official transcript, and a formal certificate will be mailed to your current address on file.
